SCHOLARSHIPS BECAS Blaise Pascal 2009

The international research chairs Blaise Pascal was created in 1996 by the State and Region Ile-de-France. Each chair allows a foreign scientist of a very high level of international fame and all disciplines, to continue its work around a scientific project, possibly for 12 months over 2 years, accompanied, if desired, by Other researchers, in an institution of higher education or research of Paris / Ile-de-France.

The management of these chairs is entrusted to Foundation the Ecole Normale Superieure. A Scientific Council annually selects candidates. Blaise Pascal chairs have acquired a high profile abroad and within the scientific community and francilienne award is a major event in the life science.

The State and Region Ile-de-France are implementing new International Research Chairs "Blaise Pascal" to accommodate foreign researchers of very high level and internationally renowned scientists in all areas: natural sciences, life sciences, humanities and social sciences and applied technologies.

Each Chair allows the recipient foreign scientist to be hosted for 12 months full time, possibly spread over 2 years in one or more institutions of higher education or research of Paris / Ile-de-France, around a project science, with an environment, equipment and means of operation.

The overall amount spent on each project can reach 200 000 € all included (salaries, social security, taxes, spending accompanying ... etc). The recipients will give a dozen lessons (educational program to join) will be required to provide an activity report at the end of the stay and to organize a public seminar.

A jury multidisciplinary, involving the Institute of France, will select up to 5 candidates for 2009 based on the scientific value of the project Region Ile-de-France, its interdisciplinary nature and quality of the file submitted.

Proposals must be received before 28 January 2009, the beneficiary countries can be hosted in Paris in September 2009.

Applications from women are strongly encouraged.

The records must be established and jointly presented by the head of the host laboratory. They absolutely must understand the following documents (3 copies):


  • The form of a call for proposal (attached)

  • Sheet financiers e assessing needs (model attached)

  • A research project and activities

  • An educational program

  • A curriculum vitae and a list of recent publications

  • Reasoned opinions from the host laboratory

  • A letter of agreement of the Director of the host institution
