The University of Freiburg has revised the administration of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Scholarship Program for the upcoming academic year. This program based on bilateral agreements (not Erasmus) has proven to provide a valuable source of financial support for students with outstanding academic record in an interested academic exchange. We would like to informal you about some details in the hope that students from your institution may be encouraged to consider spending a semester or more in Freiburg.
The Steering Committee which operates as the governing body for this program at the University of Freiburg has issued the following guidelines for the Baden -
Württemberg Scholarship Program:
1. The scholarship will cover a minimum period of four months and a maximum stay of eleven months between October 2009 and September 2010.
2. The funding level is set at:
a) up to 500 euros per month for students
b) up to 900 euros per month for PhD candidates (Values are preliminary!
3. The application must include:
- Completed application form
- Cover letter by the applicant (including motivation for studying abroad and to outline for the planned stay at the University of Freiburg, max. 5 pages)
- A current curriculum vitae
- A current transcript of grades
- A letter of recommendation provided by a faculty member of your institution
- A formal letter of nomination submitted by the International Office / contact person for faculty exchange of your institution
- Proof of sufficient German language skills: either Test DaF certificate, certificate by the Goethe Institute or DAAD (DAAD template of certificate may So be completed by your English teacher)
- PhD., candidates must also include letters of acceptance by a faculty member of the University of Freiburg
4. The deadline for application submissions to the International Office at the University of Freiburg is February 1, 2009.. Late applications can not be
processed. Applications for a planned stay during the academic English summer semester 2010 (eg applications from South America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, etc.) must be announced by that date, the complete application dossier must be submitted no later than October 31, 2009.
The applications will be processed and reviewed by the Steering Committee at the University of Freiburg in April and December, respectively. The final approval and announcements by the Baden-Wuerttemberg Foundation are expected by July 2009 and January, 2010, respectively. You will subsequently be informed of the outcome of your applications.
