Requirements:

  •  application folder of the Office of Scholarships and Student Loans-Obec (attach receipt). Fill out all forms of Obec.
  • Two (2) letters for the workplace or college. One, addressed to the Chief of the Office of Scholarships and Student Loans, and the other to the entity sponsoring the scholarship.
  • Complete the Application Form Koica in English, which is attached hereto.
  • Complete the Application Form GSIS, which is attached hereto.
  • Copy of bachelor's or professional degree in areas related to the course, certified by the Secretary General of the University or the National Assembly of Rectors (simple translation in English).
  • Two letters of recommendation, must be issued by academics, or people with whom the applicant has worked, which can provide detailed information on skills, personality, motivation level of the applicant, which is attached hereto.
  • personal statement and curriculum that is attached hereto.
  • Financial Statement (form provided by the institution of study).
  • Verification (Form supplied then the institution of study).
  • Certificates of college (simple translation in English).
  • Certificate of work. (Simple translation in English).
  • Copy of certificate stating that English language proficiency and advanced level coming from a recognized institution.
  • Preferably below 35 years.
  • Copies of passports and birth certificates of the applicant and their parents.
  • Two (2) passport size photographs.
  • Curriculum Vitae photocopy descriptive. (Simple translation in English.)
  • Medical certificate attesting to good physical and mental health, issued by any agency of the ministry of health which must be completed by a physician, signed and sealed.
  • Not have participated in KOICA program itself during the past three years.
  • Photocopy of passport.

Ghent University call for applications for Master grants for candidates from developing countries 2009-2010

Ghent University, Belgium call for applications for Master grants for candidates from developing countries 2009-2010.

The scholarship consists of an allowance of € 964 per month and the yearly tuition fee with a maximum of 80€. In case of increased tuition fee for the master’s programme, Ghent University will only reimburse the refundable part. Airline ticket and visa costs are carried by the student.

The master scholarships are awarded for the duration of the studies to candidates from developing countries who wish to obtain a master’s degree at Ghent University, aiming at the delivery of a Ghent University diploma after max. 2 years of study. With the scholarship application the applicant must also submit a letter of admission to the study programme. The scholarship is in principle paid for the total duration of the studies. In case of a 2-year study programme, the 2nd year will be paid upon successful completion of the first year (minimum 60 credits).

Eligible Master programmes at Ghent University

  • Master’s Programmes (master after bachelor)

  • Subsequent Master’s Programmes (master after master)


Applicant Eligibility criteria
1. Degree
Applicants for master’s programmes should already have obtained a bachelor degree when they submit the application. For subsequent master’s programmes, applicants should already have obtained a master degree. No exceptions are allowed.
2. Nationality
The applicants must come from and should be nationals of one of the developing countries on the country list of developing countries. Priority, however, will be given to the categories on the DAC List of Aid Recipients with the lowest levels of development and income.

The DEADLINE for submitting the proposal is 30 April 2009 at 5 p.m.

Selection criteria
The recommendations are based on:
- The qualifications of the applicant for the master grant (this also implies that the chances of overly qualified candidates might decrease);
o Students who successfully follow the first year of a Master Grant at Ghent University may have a higher chance of selection
o There is no strict age limit, although applicants below 40 years are preferred
- The significance of the master’s programme for the student’s country;
- Validation of the knowledge in the student’s country;
- The student’s nationality. In the event of equal rankings on the basis of the quality of the file, priority will be given to the categories on the DAC List of Aid Recipients with the lowest level of development and income;
- The motivation of the applicant.

Scholarships for Master of Science Programmes available for the year 2008/2009

Every year there is the opportunity to request consideration for specific scholarships offered to international students.
Students obtaining a scholarship will have to pay only a nominal tuition fee for a maximum of €210.00.

>> ICE-Unioncamere Scholarships - 100 scholarships of 5,000€ offered by Istituto Nazionale per il Commercio con l’Estero (ICE) and the Unione Italiana delle Camere di Commercio, Artigianato e Agricoltura (Unioncamere) will be assigned to foreign students admitted for the academic year 2008/09 to one of the Master of Science programme at Politecnico.
